Dr. McNitt (Ph.D. Michigan State) teaches courses in American government, parties and elections, political behavior and research methods. Research interests include urban politics and the effects of party organization on nominations. His research has been published in Legislative Studies Quarterly, Social Science Journal, American Politics Quarterly, Journal of Politics, Western Political Quarterly and the Journal of Urban Affairs.
Dr. McNitt’s current research focuses on the influence of the Tea Party Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives. In addition, he is interested in the competitive process for nominations of candidates in state-wide political offices, and the impeachment of governors. He is an elected member of the Phi Beta Kappa Senate.
