About Andrew Asher

I am the Assessment Librarian at Indiana University Bloomington, where I lead the libraries’ qualitative and quantitative assessment programs. An ethnographer and anthropologist by vocation, I conduct research on the information processes of students and faculty, the interaction between culture and information technologies, and the meanings and practices of citizenship in Poland, Germany and the European Union.
Prior to joining Indiana University, I was the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) postdoctoral fellow for scholarly communications at Bucknell University, and from 2008-2012 I was the Lead Research Anthropologist for the Ethnographic Research in Illinois Academic Libraries (ERIAL) project, a two-year study of student research processes at five Illinois universities.
