Crowdfunding Access to ArchivesLibrary Journal (2015)
Through the example of Ryan Cordell of Northeastern University, this short opinion piece discusses scholars' need for open access to digitized archival materials, particularly to enable text mining and other forms of computational analysis. It presents one model for achieving open access to these materials -- the library crowdfunding model pioneered by Reveal Digital -- and calls for additional experiments in developing sustainable business models for publishing primary source materials on an open access basis.
