About Ana I. Fins

Ana Imia Fins, Ph.D. received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Miami. Her training has focused primarily in the area of Health Psychology and her specific interests cover the areas of sleep medicine, life-threatening illness and coping with chronic illness. She teaches several courses as part of the Health Psychology Concentration curriculum, which include Professional and Ethical Issues in Health Psychology and Psychological Interventions with Medical Patients.
She also teaches other required/elective courses for the doctoral program, the Master's in Mental Health Counseling program and Specialist in School Psychology program. Her current research endeavors focus on sleep and chronic illness. One study focuses on evaluating the efficacy of a behavioral intervention for insomnia with HIV+ individuals. A second study evaluates subjective and objective sleep parameters in women with breast cancer and assesses sleep changes as a function of a cognitive behavioral stress management intervention in these women.
