About Dr Amy Berry

Dr Amy Berry is a Research Fellow in the Education and Development Program at the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). Amy’s expertise is in student engagement, assessment, pedagogy and teacher professional learning.
Amy’s research focuses on the pedagogy of student engagement in the primary classroom and teacher expectations for how students will engage in learning within the classroom. She is currently the Teacher Professional Learning Lead in the Learning through Play at School project, a 4-year collaboration between ACER and The LEGO Foundation. The project aims to develop early primary teachers’ skills in facilitating quality learning through play in the classroom and to investigate the impact on students’ holistic development.
Amy has lectured at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education since 2015. Over that time, she has worked with teachers and school leaders from Australia, Singapore and Saudi Arabia, supporting them in their efforts to improve student outcomes within their schools. Prior to that, Amy worked as a primary school teacher in Queensland.
