Abstract
Nutrition fuels function. What we eat significantly affects our health and the recovery of patients. PTs and PTAs have an excellent opportunity to provide basic nutrition education and resources as patient-facing providers. Nutrition can be utilized as a fundamental aspect of rehabilitation and improve overall health and wellness. In this course, you will learn current recommendations to optimize nutrition for injuries from a Registered dietitian, Dr. Ambria Crusan, PhD in Human Nutrition. Jon Duellman PT, DPT will provide a review of the scope of practice for PTs and PTAs and appropriate use of nutrition education. Case applications will be shared and discussed to provide tangible examples in physical therapy practice. This session will include small and large group discussion to find opportunities to apply nutrition in current practice. Attendees will walk away with simple strategies to include nutrition in physical therapy practice.
