Abstract
Students, staff, faculty, and administrators from three local metro private universities with increasingly diverse student bodies representing historically underrepresented backgrounds, have collaborated to address existing and emerging food access needs at three urban, private, liberal arts universities in Minnesota. This presentation will share the qualitative findings from the survey highlighting the need to include private universities in food insecurity conversations, advocacy, and policy at the national level as students at all three universities experience food insecurity at similar rates to those at public institutions. Our findings demonstrate students who hold marginalized identities are at increased risk of food insecurity. To promote health equity and inclusion among our future generations, it is crucial to include college students in the conversation of food security.
