About Amber L. Vlasnik

Amber Vlasnik provided leadership and vision around gender equity issues as the former director of the Wright State University (WSU) Women’s Center. Amber engaged in university-wide policy development, programming, training, and advocacy related to issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion and works to benefit all members of the campus community. Prior to her position at Wright State, Amber was the manager of the Women’s Center at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
Amber also served as the Internships Coordinator for the WSU Women's Studies Program and teaches in the program. She has served on the Executive Board of the ACE Ohio Women's Network as their Communications Chair, as a member of the Advisory Council of the National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA) Women’s Centers Committee, and the founding chair of the Women’s Centers Committee of the Greater Cincinnati Consortium of Colleges & Universities (GCCCU) and the Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE). Amber holds a M.A.L.A. with concentrations in gender, law, and higher education from Louisiana State University and a B.A. in International Studies and Spanish from St. Norbert College in Wisconsin. She is a doctoral candidate (ABD) in the Higher Education & Student Affairs Ph.D. program at The Ohio State University. Her research interests include women in higher education, women's centers, feminist methodologies, and the internationalization of colleges and universities.
