Abstract
Group Projects Abroad (GPA) are funded through grants from the U.S. Department of Education to support overseas projects in training, research, and curriculum development in foreign languages and area studies. Boise State University’s GPA will travel to Taiwan in summer 2021 to engage in a language and cultural immersion experience that will cumulate in each participant creating a project to enhance instruction in the US.
Each of the four panelists are involved with the GPA and created their project proposals pre-COVID. They will discuss their their upcoming projects, which include reforming student assessment measures; improving language instruction in a virtual setting; designing training for professionals traveling abroad; and making virtual classroom settings more inclusive. The panelists will provide practitioner insights on how the pandemic has impacted pedagogical methods and how their project designs have evolved in light of the massive shift in the educational landscape.
