Abstract
In this post-modern era, the Black church attempts to survive amid the evolution of the mega church. The rise of the mega church phenomenon within the Black community in this consumerist culture is a radical departure with the historic commitment to fight for freedom and justice. Utilizing the empowerment perspective, this article will discuss individualism and barriers to community empowerment and its impact on the history of the Black church.
