A Comparison of a Multimedia Wiki-based Class Text and a Traditional Textbook: Does Type of Text Impact Learning?Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education (2012)
As online technologies are adopted to facilitate learning, a need exists to establish their effectiveness. The purpose of the study was to determine if differences exist in students’ learning based on the type of text book that was adopted in their differentiated instruction course. Findings indicated that students who used a multimedia student-created wiki book had a significantly higher sense of perceived cognitive learning, affective learning, and psychomotor learning than students who used a publisher-produced textbook and textbook companion site. No significant difference existed between groups in terms of course points.
