Pharmacist-led interventions for adults with asthma or COPDCochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (2013)
AbstractBackground Chronic lung diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are major causes of morbidity, mortality and cost to healthcare service providers globally (WHO 2010). As a result of continued exposure to risk factors, the prevalence of these conditions is expected to increase worldwide. There are approximately 300 million asthma suffers globally, with the prevalence projected to increase by 50% every decade (GINA 2012). COPD is presently the fourth leading cause of chronic morbidity and mortality in the US, and is projected to be the third leading cause of death by 2020 (Mannino 2006).
