Amanda Sugimoto, PhD, is an assistant professor in the elementary Graduate Teacher Education Program. She completed her PhD in teaching and teacher education at the University of Arizona, and specializes in preparing elementary teachers to work with linguistically diverse students in socially just ways. She has extensive experience working with linguistically diverse students both in the United States and abroad. Her research focuses on improving the educational experiences and access of linguistically diverse students in schools, particularly in mathematics.
