Abstract

Intersectionality, a term introduced by Kimberlé Crenshaw in 1989, broadly refers to the study of intersections between different disenfranchised or marginalized groups. An examination of intersectional theory begins, first, with the recognition that individuals experience multiple and intersecting identities that flow from and produce particular life experiences and conditions.
