Abstract
This research study presents an in-depth quantitative social science examination of the U.S. National Basketball Association (NBA) players for the 2005-2006 season. This study does not examine on-court performance data of these players. Instead, the study focuses on the demographics of the players by looking at their racial distribution, average age, height and weight, schools, colleges or universities attended in the United States and regions where these institutions are located, demographics of international players and players who entered the NBA directly from high school. Finally, the paper examines the annual earnings of the players for the 2005-2006 season, and in the conclusion attempts to explain how Black players could contribute to the development of African American communities.
