Abstract
Most of the literature on gentrification, schooling and inequality has taken a critical stance by showing the ways in which school leaders and teachers have responded to demographic shifts in race-neutral, and often negative and divisive, ways towards students and families of Color. This phenomenological study documents the opposite scenario of a select group of New York City school leaders who are intentional about achieving equity as student demographics shift.
