Abstract
The Rose-Human laptop program is described. Curriculum issues in teaching Calculus and Differential Equations derived from laptop use are discussed, especially concerning the the issue described by the title. This presentation is part of the panel discussion "The Impact of Laptop Computers on Classroom Instruction".
