Academic specialism is Northern Ireland politics and society, with a particular interest in international exchange of lessons with other divided societies in light of peace and political processes.
Received BA degree with Distinction, with independent research project, "Unionism and the political party structure of Northern Ireland". MA degree in Irish Political Studies; thesis examined role of a cross-community political party in a divided society.
Have presented academic conference papers on political marketing as well as political change.
Postgraduate interests include role of local government in conflict and post-conflict political environments.
