What career advice would you give a young Hispanic woman?

Dr. Maria Pilar Aquino (in Spanish) gives career advice to young Hispanic women who may be interested in the study of Theology. Dedication and work quality is first; communities provide the best opportunities; third, develop your network; and finally, never forget your roots.

About the Interviewee:

Maria Pilar Aquino, S.T.D., currently teaches at the University of San Diego. She is a Catholic Latina Theologian whose primary areas are liberation theologies, social ethics, and feminist theologies, with special interests in intercultural approaches, conflict transformation, and religious peacebuilding studies. She was co-founder and first woman president of the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States and has authored more than fifty books and Journal articles.

About the Interviewer:

Dr. Alfred Benney is a professor of Religious Studies at Fairfield University. He has a Ph.D in Theology from the Hartford Seminary Foundation and teaches courses in Non-Traditional American Religions and Christian Religious Thought. His research interests include "how people learn"; "the appropriate use of technology in teaching/learning" and "myth as explanatory narrative". He has published work on teaching with technology.
