Abstract
What elements have influenced your life’s vocation?
Dr. Maria Pilar Aquino discusses the contribution and important role of Catholic priests, religious orders, and missionaries in her experience of the Catholic Church. As a young woman, Aquino especially attributed her faith and theological vocation to the role model of religious women and the missionaries of Latin America and elsewhere. Later in her life, she found the works of feminist theologians particularly inspiring for a woman who at first only had male professors of theology.

About the Interviewee:
Maria Pilar Aquino, S.T.D. currently teaches at the University of San Diego. She is a Catholic Latina Theologian whose primary areas are liberation theologies, social ethics, and feminist theologies, with special interests in intercultural approaches, conflict transformation, and religious peacebuilding studies. She was co-founder and first woman president of the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States and has authored more than fifty books and Journal articles.
About the Interviewer:
Dr. Alfred Benney is a professor of Religious Studies at Fairfield University. He has a Ph.D in Theology from the Hartford Seminary Foundation and teaches courses in Non-Traditional American Religions and Christian Religious Thought. His research interests include "how people learn"; "the appropriate use of technology in teaching/learning" and "myth as explanatory narrative". He has published work on teaching with technology.
