Disorder Optimizes the Performance of UV Photonic Crystal Laser

Abstract

We demonstrate that effect of unintentional disorder introduced in fabrication process of photonic crystal lasers can help minimize lasing threshold of the device. This allowed us to experimentally realize planar UV photonic crystal laser.
