Bibliometric indicators are built on the characteristics of scientific publications and are useful for analyzing research priorities, dissemination processes, transmission of knowledge generated by research, etc. They can be limited to an individual, an institution or a region, to a country, or by theme, scientific discipline or subject area. The measurement of published research produced by the country could be used as an input to the design and implementation of scientific policies, particularly those intended to promote and guide research, due to the ability to describe, analyze and evaluate the research activity of authors.
