About Alexander Noppe

With a doctorate in brass literature and pedagogy and a master's in trumpet performance, both from Indiana University, and two bachelor's degrees, in trumpet performance and jazz studies, from the University of Michigan, Dr. Alex Noppe joined the faculty of the Department of Music at Boise State University in 2013. Before coming to Boise State, he taught trumpet, jazz improvisation, jazz history, and music appreciation at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. His major trumpet teachers have included John Rommel, Anthony Plog, William Campbell, and William Lucas. Dr. Noppe has a wealth of experience as a solo, orchestral, chamber, and jazz musician, and has served as an adjudicator, guest performer, and clinician nationally and internationally. He is also an active composer and arranger for brass and jazz ensembles.
