About Alejandro Guzmán Brito

A native of Chile, Alejandro Guzmán Brito is a noted legal historian and authority on the subject of codification. He graduated with first-class honours and received his law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, where he is Dean of the law school and teaches Roman law. He also holds a law degree and a doctor of laws degree summa cum laude from the Universidad de Navarra, in Spain. He is on the faculty of the Universidad de Chile, and has visited at the Università degli Studi di Bari, the Universidad Externado de Colombia, the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, the Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata and the Universidad Diego Portales. A corresponding member of the Real Academia de la Historia, and research fellow at the Max Plank Institut für europäische Rechtsgeschichte, he serves on the editorial board of, among others, the Revista de Historia del Derecho Ricardo Levene.
