Abstract
The article investigates the effects of vessel disturbance on the behavior of harbor seals in Puget Sound in Washington. Topics discussed include the consequences for marine mammals of a lack of response to disturbances in their surroundings, the flushing behavior of harbor seals in the area relative to the level of human exposure and the steps that should be taken to prevent seals from being disturbed.
