AbstractThe Society of Jesus (Jesuits) has made inestimable contributions to the development of Catholic education in the United States. This article provides a historical overview of one venerable Jesuit institution, Saint Peter’s College in New Jersey, the only Jesuit-operated institution of higher learning in the state. Special attention is given to the Ratio Studiorum and to other details of the delivery of Jesuit education circa 1900.
