About Adrianos Retalis

Dr. Adrianos Retalis is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Environmental Research and Sustainable Development, National Observatory of Athens, Greece. He holds a Doctorate in Remote Sensing (University of Athens), a M.Sc. degree in Remote Sensing, Image Processing and Applications (University of Dundee) and a Bachelors Degree in Geology (University of Athens). He has been involved in several EU and national funded R&D projects. He has considerable experience in the area of satellite remote sensing and GIS. His main
research interests include assessment/mapping of air pollution, development of atmospheric correction algorithms, land use/cover mapping, and environmental monitoring (wetlands, water quality, forest fires). He has a 6-year teaching experience in the Technological Educational Institute of Athens (Greece) and the University of Patras (Greece) in the field of Remote Sensing and Photo-interpretation. He is author of more than 100 scientific papers presented in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Also, content provider for a multimedia CD-ROM on Remote Sensing and GIS.
