Abstract

The federal government's decision to discontinue appeals of cases that declared solitary confinement to be both inhumane and unconstitutional serves to distract attention from the government’s manifest failures to protect prisoners from COVID-19 and shelters its latest solitary confinement bill — Bill C-83 — from scrutiny by our highest court.
