About Adam Epstein

Adam Epstein, J.D./M.B.A. is a Full Professor of Business Law and past Chair in the Department of Finance and Law at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. He has written 4 textbooks including Sports Law and has published over 70 intellectual contributions. He had represented professional athletes prior to his academic career primarily in the sports of swimming and triathlon. Adam has received several teaching awards including the College of Business AT&T Innovation and Teaching Excellence Award (2007, 2015, 2022), the Dean's Teaching Award (2012), the university-wide Excellence in Teaching Award (2014), and the Dean’s Research Excellence Award (2020-21). Adam received the 2016 Betty van der Smissen Leadership Award from the Sport and Recreation Law Association (SRLA). Recipient of the inaugural Best Article Award (with Kathryn Kisska-Schulze, Clemson University) for the Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport (2017). SRLA Research Fellow (2018). Received CMU President's Award for Outstanding Research and Creative Activity (2018). Received a Certificate of Implementation from CMU's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning for the classroom exercise entitled, “The Trading Card Effect,” and was recognized by the same as “an exemplary example of an application of a teaching and learning strategy, innovation, or intervention that impacts student learning.” Adam also serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport (JLAS), and served as Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Legal Studies Education (JLSE) (2019-20) and of the Rocky Mountain Law Journal (2013-16) prior to that.
