About Adam Z. Harness

Adam Harness joined the Charleston School of Law in 2021 as the Digital Collections & Initiatives, Instructional Librarian. Prof. Harness specializes in legal research, constitutional law, healthcare law, and juvenile law. Prof. Harness received his Master of Science in Information Science from the University of Tennessee in 2020. Prof. Harness also has a LL.M. in Law and Government from American University Washington College of Law in 2017 and received his JD Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2016. Prof. Harness also earned a Masters of Public Policy and Administration in 2016 from the University of Tennessee.

Before joining the Charleston School of Law, Prof. Harness was a Title IV-D Attorney for the State of Tennessee where he was responsible for over 600 cases per month regarding Title IV-D prosecution and compliance. Prof. Harness was one of the attorneys responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state Title IV-D for the 6th Judicial District of Tennessee. Before working for the State of Tennessee, Prof. Harness was a solo-practitioner working cases throughout East Tennessee, mainly focusing in family and juvenile law. Before opening his law office, Prof. Harness worked for the Government Accountability Office, a non-profit law firm in Washington, DC, as a legal intern under Tom DeVine, a leading expert of whistleblower law. As a law student, Prof. Harness had the honor of working as a judicial intern for the Tennessee 10th Judicial Chancery Court judge, the honorable Jerri Bryant, whom still uses his memos as examples for her other interns.
