About Abel D Alonso

Abel grew up working in a family business established in two different countries, and involved in production, distribution, direct sales, and occasionally in exports.
Following this experience, Abel worked for over eleven years in Switzerland’s hospitality industry, mostly in small and medium hotels, two years in London’s hospitality industry, two years in property administration in Spain, and over five years in tertiary education in the United States as a tutor and lecturer.
During the completion of his doctoral studies in New Zealand, Abel worked with several lecturers in the areas of management, marketing, and hospitality, and upon completion of his studies he began as a lecturer and researcher in Wellington. In line with his work and life background, Abel has a strong interest in researching micro, small and medium enterprises, particularly, but not limited to, those involved in food/wine production, tourism and hospitality.
Abel has conducted field research in Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, United States, and UK. Other research interests include community development and sport management/marketing.
