About Dr. Abdul-Sattar Nizami

Abdul-Sattar Nizami has an M.Sc.Eng. in Environmental Engineering from the Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden. He has a Ph.D. in Sustainable Gaseous Biofuel from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University College Cork (UCC), Ireland. Later, he worked at the University of Toronto, Canada as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Course Builder. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor and Head of Solid Waste Research Unit at the Center of Excellence in Environmental Studies (CEES) of King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has published more than 100 papers on the topics of waste to energy, biofuels, waste-based biorefineries, catalytic pyrolysis, anaerobic digestion and resource recovery. He has delivered more than 20 invited talks to various national and international forums. His work has been cited over 1900 times in the peer review press with H factor of 24. He is an Associate Editor in Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews (Elsevier), Editor in Energy Sources Part B (Taylor & Francis) and Associate Editor in Frontiers in Energy Research along with a reviewer for many high impact Journals of Elsevier, ACS, Springer, Wiley, and Taylor and Francis. He has completed many national and international funded research projects. He is serving as a mentor and team supervisor at CEES for his waste to energy research team and solid waste research laboratory. He is also involved in community services and consultation to provide sustainable solutions for waste-related environmental issues and create environmental awareness in developing societies.
