Description
Large language models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, have taken the world by storm, and education is one of the many fields that can potentially benefit from their use. In this session, we will explore the capabilities and limitations of LLMs for educational purposes. We will discuss the problems and ethical implications of using LLMs for generating text, such as hallucinations, bias and IP concerns, as well as ideas on how to address the challenges of generating and evaluating the output of LLMs. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the potential and limitations of this technology for OER, and will learn about the ethical considerations that need to be taken when using this technology. The author generated this text in part with ChatGPT, OpenAI’s large-scale language-generation model. After generating draft language, the author reviewed, edited, and revised the language to their own liking and takes ultimate responsibility for the content.
