Yuan Li is the Scholarly Communication Librarian at Syracuse University Library. Her principal role is to direct and manage SUrface (SU digital repository), to educate campus with the changing landscaping of Scholarly Communication, and to promote and implement Open Access. Her research interests focus on the changing landscaping of scholarly communication, open access, digital preservation, data curation, new models of digital publishing and digital library in large. Yuan has published many peer-reviewed articles and presented in many meetings and conferences across the country. Her D-Lib article has been mentioned in Roy Tennant's monthly roundup of the best in internet technology writing and used in syllabus for Digital Libraries course at Simmons College. Prior to joining the SU Library, Yuan worked as Digital Initiatives Librarian at the University of Rhode Island; Digital Repository Resident Librarian at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; Digital Initiative Developer in the Graduate School of Library & Information Studies at the University of Rhode Island, and as Metadata Developer in the Special Collections and Archives Unit of the University of Rhode Island Library. Yuan holds an MLIS from the University of Rhode Island and a Master of Engineering degree in Applied Computer Science from the National Computer System Engineering Research Institute of China. She also holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science and Technology from Yanshan University (China).
