About Yongtae Kim

Yongtae Kim is a Professor of the Department of Accounting in the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University.
Dr. Kim's research interests are mainly in the areas of managerial opportunism, voluntary disclosure, and capital markets. His research has been published in several leading accounting and finance journals including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. He is teaching courses in both financial and managerial accounting at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Dr. Kim joined the faculty in 2001 after receiving his doctorate from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Born in Korea, Dr. Kim received his B.A. in Business and M.A. in Business both from Sogang University in Korea. He obtained his C.P.A. in Korea and worked for KPMG Korea for two and a half years. Dr. Kim and his wife, Misook, have a son, Ian, and live in San Jose.
