About Yang Lu

Dr. Yang Lu, P.E. of Civil Engineering, is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering at Boise State University, starting in Fall 2013, and is duly affiliated with the Micron School of Material Science and Engineering. Prior to coming to Boise State, he worked as a fellow research associate for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Engineering Laboratory, and a research scientist for the Center for Smart Infrastructure at Virginia Tech. Dr. Lu completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at Virginia Tech, with expertise in atomistic modeling and characterization of sustainable asphalt concrete. His research interests are Computational Multiscale/Multiphysics Modeling; Service Life Prediction of Sustainable & Durable Cementitious Materials; Characterization, Processing, Modeling and Sensing of Pavement Materials; Nanotechnology Application in Construction; and Renewable Energy Technology Development. Based on his cross-disciplinary educational background and extensive project experience, Dr. Lu has published 20+ technical articles in pioneering journals, including ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering, ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, International Journal of Pavement Engineering, Transportation Research Record, International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Mechanics Research Communications, Cement and Concrete Composites, Polymer Degradation and Stability, American Chemistry Society (ACS) Publications, International Journal of Electrochemical Science, etc. Dr. Lu is affiliated with a number of professional organizations, including ASCE, ACI, Sigma XI, ICE, TRB, and Journal of Materials Science Research, etc. where he serves on 5 technical committees and as an active journal reviewer for 12 journal publications.
