Xiaomei Gu is a Clinical Education Librarian at the Hardin Library for the Health
Sciences at the University of Iowa. She is the library’s liaison to the University of
Iowa College of Pharmacy, where she holds an adjunct appointment as Assistant Professor.
She is also the library’s liaison to the Department of Pharmaceutical Care and the
Department of Anesthesia at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and the
Department of Pharmacology at the Carver College of Medicine. Xiaomei is an active member
of the Medical Library Association and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. 

Xiaomei’s previous position was as Emerging Technologies Librarian at Kirkwood Community
College. While obtaining her Master of Science in Library Science (MSLS) and Certificate
in Bioinformatics at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, she worked as a graduate
assistant in The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) Health Sciences
Library. Prior to becoming a librarian, Xiaomei worked mostly in dental research. She
also holds degrees in oral Biology, Oral Pathology, and Dentistry.
