The article was originally published by the Bethel Historical Society (BHS) in 2012 (see "Historical Society Newsletters" below). . In 2018, with permission of the BHS, The Horatio Alger Society (THAS) republished the article. This version of Krohn's Farrar article is presented here, with permission of THAS, because it's in color, had four illustrations added, and corrects a number of typographical errors.
