West Grand Lake and Vicinity: A Bibliography of Early Angling Information from Eastern Maine
(2013)
  • William B. Krohn, University of Maine
Abstract
This bibliography contains information sources documenting the early experiences of people who canoed, fished, and hunted in eastern Maine, emphasizing fishing in the Grand Lake Stream area. This document includes information sources including books and booklets, maps, periodicals, and railroad pamphlets. Of special interest is the long history of landlocked salmon fishing in Grand Lake Stream, dating to the late 1700s.  Also, a sportsman’s map published by the Maine Central Railway in the early 1900s shows the locations of private and public sporting camps in the area of interest, and was used in many railroad pamphlets of the day.
