About Veronica Fitzpatrick, DrPH, MPH

Dr. Veronica Fitzpatrick received her bachelor's degree in cellular and developmental biology, master's degree in public health, specializing in disease prevention, and doctorate in public health, specializing in community health, from California State University- Fullerton. Her public health career has been devoted to improving the health of vulnerable populations through direct programming, research, evaluation, and education. She focused on adolescent health for the first few years of her career before moving on to healthcare research, first at the St. Urban Health Institute (Sinai Health System) and now at Advocate Aurora Health.

Doctor Fitzpatrick began her post-doctoral career as an epidemiologist, conducting research with fellow epidemiologists, clinicians, community health workers, and system staff to address growing disparities on Chicago's Westside. She has received grants as a principal investigator from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of Justice, and several private foundations to address race-based inequity in healthcare systems. She also provided program guidance, data training, methodological support, and evaluation for multiple departments in addition to landing research projects.

Dr. Fitzpatrick joined Advocate Aurora Health in 2019 and now leads and collaborates on academic research projects with investigators both inside and outside the organization. Her research has primarily concentrated on vulnerable populations and women's health in the context of health care. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation recently awarded her a grant to investigate cost burdens among low-income pregnant women. Her research interest is women's health, and she is excited to build on this body of work.
