About Valerie L. Christian

Valerie Christian, MBA is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Management in the Jack Welch College of Business at Sacred Heart University. She joined Sacred Heart after a 20+ year career in corporate America. Her responsibilities as Vice President of Finance and Planning at Columbia House were broad-based, including: direct marketing, strategic planning, financial analysis, sales analysis, new business development, acquisitions/divestitures, market research/market segmentation, database marketing, and budget development. In 1997, she was inducted into the Academy of Women Achievers of the YWCA of the City of New York.
Her decision to make a career transition from the corporate to the educational world was, in large part, an outgrowth of the positive teaching experience she enjoyed as an adjunct faculty member at New York University and the value she places on having an MBA degree.

She is an active Tuck alumna, serving as a mentor, a guest speaker, and Class Agent. As a working mother, she is well aware of the challenges and rewards of trying to balance family and career.
Degrees: Bachelor's in English, Colgate University; MBA, The Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.
Professor Christian teaches graduate organizational management and marketing courses. Mrs. Christian also supervises undergraduate Business internships.
She is active in academic research that has direct business application.
