About Tracey M Roberts

Tracey Roberts focuses her scholarship and teaching in the areas of taxation, property and environmental law. In her scholarship, Professor Roberts uses historical research, economic analysis, and tax policy and public finance tools to examine tax structures, environmental and land use regulation, and private governance systems. Her articles have been published in the Northwestern University Law Review, The University of California, Berkeley Ecology Law Quarterly, and the Washington and Lee Law Review.
She has previously taught law at Seattle University, the University of Louisville, and the University of South Carolina. Before turning to academia, Professor Roberts practiced for ten years in the area of commercial real estate and affordable housing, specializing in mixed-use real estate development and sustainable land use planning in Atlanta, Georgia and Denver, Colorado. During this period, she represented a number of nonprofit organizations, including the U.S. Green Building Council - Colorado Chapter, the Center for ReSource Development and the Boulder Tool Library. She also worked for four years as a social entrepreneur with the Atlanta Legal Aid Society and Georgia Legal Services Program, developing technology projects to expand access to legal services and legal information throughout Georgia.
She received her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University, her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, and her A.B. from Harvard University.
