Retired, Associate Librarian, Reference & Instruction
Now retired, until June, 2015 I was the Library's liaison to Theological Studies, Philosophy, the Bioethics Institute, Yoga Studies, and the Modern Greek Studies program. I ordered library materials to support these programs, and the humanities in general. I focused on these academic areas in my work and my teaching responsibilities, including class presentations for graduate and undergraduate students, the creation of pertinent LibGuides, and individual or small group tutorials and research consultations, in person or via WebEx.
As with all Reference Librarians, I presented library sessions for a range of academic programs, did Reference work at the Information Desk, by phone, e-mail, chat and instant messaging. I’ve worked on various committees, and was the Library’s liaison to the Southern California Theological Library Association. I continue as a member of the American Theological Library Association and the Catholic Library Association, as well as ALA and ACRL. Among my interests are literature, art and music, the history of writing and of printing, and library preservation. I am still reachable at my LMU e-mail address.
Tony Amodeo earned his B.A., Honors, in English and Humanities at DePaul University in 1967. He earned a Master of Arts in Library Science at Rosary College (now Dominican University) in 1981, and a Master of Arts in English Literature at Loyola Marymount University in 1989. He began his library career at the Newberry Library in Chicago. He was the first Illinois Cooperative Conservation Librarian.
