ter Veldhuis is a theoretical physicist who works in the area of elementary particle physics. His research focuses on extentions of the standard model of elementary particle, in particular on mechanisms of dynamical symmetry breaking. He is also active at the boundary of particle physics and cosmology, where he investigates the nature of dark matter, the mysterious substance that recent observations indicate to be pervasive in our universe. EDUCATION: M.S., Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands Ph.D., Purdue University ter Veldhuis has been teaching at Macalester since 2004.
