Using quantitative and qualitative methods, I research the tools and processes
underlying the creation, organization, discovery, communication, and preservation of
interdisciplinary scholarship.

My recent work with the cave and karst community evolved with my interest in the linkages
among university-trained scientists and non-scientists and in the role of grey
information sources in research.

My current research project builds on the cave and karst research community work. I am
examining the role of the research library in advancing citizen science initiatives. The
ultimate goal is increasing scientific literacy in society.

I am also promoting a range of research library services including open-access
publishing, e-scholarship, and data management. The USF Tampa Library's Scholar
Commons initiative (http://scholarcommons.usf.edu/) is the "umbrella site" for
this suite of services.
