About Timothy R. Brophy

Dr. Brophy was born in Edison, New Jersey in July 1971 and joined the faculty at Liberty in 2004. He is a Liberty alum (class of ’93) and spent three years teaching high school students at New Covenant Schools in Lynchburg. His dissertation research focused on variation and systematics in a Southeast Asian turtle genus. Dr. Brophy has broad interests in vertebrate ecology and systematics. He is currently working on several research projects including an ecological study of the Peaks of Otter Salamander and baraminological studies of landfowl, mole salamanders, and cucurbits. Married to his wife Michele in 1993, he now has six children: Timmy, Emily, James, John, Peter, and Baby Chloe (or Paul). He is the oldest of 8 children and has a brother who’s a graduate student at Montclair State University in New Jersey.
