Qualifications Bachelor of Education - DDIAE Diploma of Recreation Leadership - NSW Education Master of Sports Administration - Ohio University Diploma of Teaching - NRCAE Master of Laws (International Sports Law) - Anglia University A former professional soccer player, long-term community sports administrator and a pioneer in developing sport management academic programs, Associate Professor Terry Woods brings to his lectures an in-depth knowledge of sports management and practice at every level. He was the first Australian to be awarded a US National Football League Scholarship to study at Ohio University where he completed his Masters of Sports Management, returning home to develop this new academic discipline as lecturer and ultimately Head of Southern Cross University's School of Exercise and Sport Management. Through a long and distinguished career, Terry Woods literally 'wrote the book' on sports management education, developing a number of courses and modules for tertiary level studies, including Australia's first Bachelor of Sport Tourism Management program. He has consulted to numerous government and community-based sporting organisations, including the NSW Department of Sport, Recreation and Racing, NSW AustSwim and the North Coast Academy of Sport and, in 1995 as a founding board member of the Sports Management Association of Australia and New Zealand (SMAANZ) which has since come to be regarded as the leading global sport management association. In 2000, Terry Woods was honoured with an Australian Sports Medal in recognition of his contribution to the development of sport.
