Description
A panel discussion on the concept and case studies of functional coexistence, an enduring state of negative peace (absence of physical violence) in which historical adversaries refuse to recognize each other's legitimacy and/or identity. The virtual panel took place on March 30, 2023 as part of the Peace Week of George Mason University's Carter School of Peace and Conflict Resolution.

The panel started with my presentation on the concept. Susan Allen from George Mason University elaborated on the concept. Ann Phillips and Margarita Tadevosyan, both from GMU, presented case studies of functional coexistence.
