Dr. Suzanne Broughton is an Assistant Professor of Literacy with the School of Teacher Education and Leadership at the Tooele Regional Campus. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her research interests reflect her experience as an elementary teacher with inner-city students. Dr. Broughton completed a post-doctorate fellowship at ASU where she oversaw a large-scale study investigating reading comprehension strategies for early elementary students. Her research interests in the area of reading comprehension include investigations on text structure and interventions such as small group discussions, self-explanations, and argumentation. Dr. Broughton’s research on text processing has resulted in a co-authored publication in the Journal of Educational Research. Suzanne’s research interests also include examining the role of emotions on conceptual change, attitude change, and belief change in science classrooms, as well as the role of efficacy in academic contexts. She recently co-authored an article in the Journal of Teacher Education on collective classroom efficacy as well as a co-authored publication on student teaching efficacy in Critical Issues in Teacher Education.
