In loco grandparentis?: the challenge of Australia's ageing teacher population
Abstract
Features and implications of Australia's ageing teaching population are canvassed and possible solutions or outcomes explored, based on current and recent research. It is argued that the ageing of the Australian teaching population must be addressed at personal, school and systemic levels if schools and teachers are to bring to fruition the nation's increasing, and at times contradictory, expectations for education.
